NGC 2903 is a barred spiral galaxy about 30 million light-years away in Leo, discovered by William Herschel in 1784. It has an unusually high rate of star formation in its central region, where its bar funnels gas inward to feed young star clusters. The bright star cloud NGC 2905 is a distinct feature within one of its spiral arms.
