NGC 6503 is a dwarf spiral galaxy about 17 million light-years away in Draco, sitting right at the edge of the Local Void, a vast, unusually empty region of space. It spans only about 30,000 light-years, a third the size of the Milky Way. Red glowing gas clouds and blue clusters of newborn stars are scattered along its arms, laced with dark dust lanes.
