The Triangulum Galaxy (Messier 33, NGC 598) is a face-on spiral roughly 2.7-3 million light-years away in Triangulum, the third-largest member of our Local Group after Andromeda and the Milky Way. Under very dark skies it is one of the most distant objects visible to the naked eye. It is sometimes informally called the Pinwheel Galaxy, a nickname it shares with M101. Rich in star-forming regions, it includes NGC 604, one of the largest known stellar nurseries.
